MTC(Metaverse Training Center)와 자습서(Tutorial)등이 있지만 아직은 완벽하진 않을 것입니다.

As a mentor, only in your free volunteered time, you would help users, teach others, introduce users to the community, or even show users the cool content Neos has to offer. If you are unable to assist, teach, or show another user, you will point them in the direction of another Mentor who is available.

Being a Mentor offers multiple benefits. It gives you a badge to signify you are ready and willing to help, it lets you be in contact and assist with other volunteer teams (Moderation, QC, etc), and also gives you resources and environment to learn and enrich your Neos Experience. It's also a lot of fun to see people so happy about what you do!

The Neos Mentors is a program to recognize but also train those who want to be Leaders, Teachers, Guides, Mentors, or Friendly people in the community and act as a beacon for new or old users to show Neos. I'm sure many of you started on your first day of Neos, unsure of where things are, where to go, or how to use Neos. The tutorial experience is supposed to do this, but as of right now it will be incomplete for some time and it won't have everything until Neos is "finished". As such, a Mentor is someone who does this role to help new users and welcome them to the fold and bridges that gap. Neos Mentors as a program identity wise will probably change over time, but note that being a Mentor means you an active and helpful community member.

There are no hard criteria, but we are always looking for possible Mentors with the following qualities:
+
== What are the Mentor Leads? ==

# Following the [[Guidelines]] and Mentor Guidelines as community role models.
+
The purpose of the Mentor Leads is to enable other Mentors and provide structure and resources where before there wasn't any. Every Mentor lead should be able to autonomously handle things like tweaking the guidelines, correcting grammatical mistakes, implementing quality of life and onboarding new applicants.
# Ensuring you can courteously handle new users and welcome them to the community.

# Reporting concerns or issues you find to the appropriate channels. (Bugs, Exploits, Moderation)

# Respect users from all walks of life in Neos.

# Understanding of the Neos Toolset at the most basic level. (Tooltips, Avatars, Worlds, etc)

If you're okay with this, then please apply!

Right now Neos is very tight knit, but at a cost information is very tribal based, incomplete, or hard to find. Efforts are being made to rectify this but for a platform with many social elements, sometimes the solution needs to be partially social. So by meeting or talking to a Mentor we can push you in the right direction, or talking to the right people in the community who can help. Think of a Mentor as a living NPC to quote from someone's experience, we just want to show you Neos and all it's wonder because that gift of showing someone to Neos is really precious. Nothing more nothing less.

Anyone can be a Mentor, a Mod, a Team Member, or even a Community Member, many of us were Mentors in the early days before many realized we were going to be Mods or Team Members. By being a Mentor its a way of vetting or giving that you little bit of responsibility to see how you'll handle it. By being a part of the mentors you help Neos in more ways then you can imagine.

== What comes with the Mentor role? ==

Being a Mentor is volunteer based, but also understand this is not a job. You are not obligated to do this all the time. So overall when you become a mentor, the expectations the role has are typically 3 things
+
* Recognition and thanks for their time and assistance as a volunteer.
 +
* Recognition of their Mentor role via a badge and nameplate colour enabling users in need of help to more easily seek them out.
 +
* Access to the Neos Volunteer Team Discord to receive Mentor-related announcements and updates, and to communicate and coordinate with other mentors and members of the other volunteer teams.
 +
* Access to the Neos Mentor Team Group containing useful teaching materials.

Listed in the Mentor Resources below is an Application Form; the process of becoming a Mentor has been largely streamlined and made less opaque by the inclusion of the new Mentor Trainer System too, which you can read through in the resources below as well.

Mentor Resources

Below is a list of Front-Facing Documentation & Resources that the Mentor Team uses. All information displayed is fit for public consumption and intended to give one a broad overview of the Mentor Program and what it entails.

Mentor Program Application The Front-Facing Application for the Mentor Program. The Mentor Program is open to new applicants.

Mentor Guidelines The Mentor Guidelines, listed below in it's own translated section.

Mentor Roster The Mentor Program's Roster; displaying current Mentors, Mentor Trainees, their Time Zones and their Languages.

Neos Mentor Guidelines

Version 1.2

Mentors are Community Members who volunteer their time to help other Users, new and old.

They are important to all Users, but especially New Users, and should achieve a baseline of skills, which they are able to convey.

The Role does not come with a quota to fulfill, but with an expectation to represent Neos and the friendly, open Community that it houses.

  1. Follow the Neos Usage Guidelines
  2. Respect fellow Users
    1. Consider personal space, comfort, ear and eye safety.
    2. Make sure to consider what the User you’re helping is actually interested in.
  3. While acting as a Mentor, Avoid Biases and Conflict
    1. De-escalate if a situation drifts too far into a discussion/argument.
    2. Personal likes/dislikes and opinions should not be forced upon other Users.
  4. Do not abuse the Mentor Role
    1. Do not lie about your rights, impersonate Moderators, or generally put yourself above other Users based on your Role.
    2. Avoid manipulating a User to follow personal beliefs/opinions on the basis of your Mentor Role.
    3. Being a mentor does not grant exclusivity in teaching users, anyone can teach and one should not override that teaching unless it violates Neos Usage Guidelines.
  5. Avoid disruptive Tools/Gadgets
    1. New Users shouldn't be overwhelmed by displacement gadgets (push tools/guns, gravity tips, hand/proxy grabbers) or loud/bright effects (such as realistic guns, flashbangs or the visual filters found on vapes/bongs).
    2. Similarly, a complex Multi-tool can eschew the new user experience and expectation, keep to simple or default tooltips when possible with new users.
  6. Act polite and dignified
    1. Have patience with Users, especially when it comes to technical issues or them needing more time to understand. Do not become pushy.
    2. Remember that the badge comes with recognition and represents the Neos platform to a degree.
  7. Stay open to constructive criticism, listen to feedback
    1. Not every possible problem can be covered in the guidelines. If another User, fellow Mentor, or Lead approaches you with an issue, please be considerate and listen.

Not following the Mentor Guidelines as an established Mentor may result in consequences, which can range from a warning to removal from the Program.

Removal Decisions will always be made by the Mentor Leads as a whole.
